Nikola Yanev

Architect
I believe that good architecture is subtle and responsive, nestled skilfully into our surroundings while enabling new experiences.”

Nik brings his experience working in building conservation to Jestico + Whiles. He spent five years living in Cambridge and working for a couple of conservation practices on the refurbishment and adaptation of exceptional Grade II* and Grade I listed buildings and scheduled monuments, including a bell-foundry, a ruin, churches, and colleges.

Since joining Jestico + Whiles in 2023 as an architect, Nik has worked primarily on refurbishment and adaptive reuse projects in the education studio. He enjoys the challenge of designing improved facilities and daring new additions while celebrating the beauty and significance that can be found in existing buildings.

Nik is a particular admirer of modern and recent heritage. He chairs the Bulgarian Chapter of Docomomo International, and is also an active part of the Bulgarian postwar architecture foundation, New Architectural Heritage.
