Mentoring with the Open City Accelerate programme

Over the past few months, we’ve been running a series of mentoring sessions with four sixth form students as part of Accelerate, a programme run by Open City that aims to improve diversity in architecture.

The Accelerate programme gives young people from underrepresented backgrounds the confidence to make strong applications to study architecture and other fields in the built environment. Jestico + Whiles has been a committed supporter of the programme since its inception.

This year, the brief focused on designing for a ritual at the historic Cowcross Yard in Clerkenwell. Students got to visit the site, before developing proposals using collages, sketches and models.
